What have yoi been doing Rooobbeerrtt?

That is a line off of the Incredibles that Carlos, Celeste and I always repeated to each other.

So right now...dang...I am sitting on my bed about to finish packing for my trip to Nashville but my back is sun burned...or tanning bed burned. I wanted to even out the color a bit on my back for the wedding that I am going to be in and I got burned in the tanning bed. I have light bulb lines on my back now. LOL!! It's ok, I think that it will even out by Saturday, but it was truly an experience.

Carlos left on....Friday and I really missed him. I had a family reunion on Saturday and that was a lot of fun. And since then, I have been running errands and tying up all my loose ends before I leave. You should read Carlos' blog cause he is at a camp in San Diego...omoteach.blogspot.com.

I hope that I will have some time to blog while I am in Nashville. Well...till we meet again!!

Paving the street, taking out sidewalk

Today when I came I found this:

They were re-paving our road today and evidently a truck hit our sidewalk and busted it. So we called Carlos' mom and asked her what to do and she gave Carlos a number to call and he did. While he was on the phone, all these city guys kept driving up and down the street looking at us. Who ever Carlos talked to was really nice. He said that it would be fixed right away. So we left again. And when we got home we found it "fixed".

Not uhhhh...."FIXED" like we thought. So we are going to give them the benefit of the doubt and pretend that this is just temporary and in a week call them and ask them whats up. The excitement never ends!!

Talking some TRANSFORMER Trash

Last night, my brother, Carlos and I went to see the movie Transformers. I was looking forward to seeing it, I had heard from lots of different people how good it was, so I didn't expect it to be as incredibly STUPID as it was. Someone told me that people cheered in this movie! FOR WHAT? I have no idea. I spoke with this lady in the bathroom cause we both left at the same time and I don't think she was very impressed either, she wanted to go see 1408....I digress....
The lines in the movie were like something off the Disney Channel...the leading lady was incredibly cliche and so obviously just there as eye candy....the parents were typical, stupid...and the little jibe about the President, obviously aimed at George Bush. The bad good guys were so NORMAL, I am sure that if we did a search on their lines we would find them in 10 other movies. I am trying to not rant here....wow.

My favorite bad scenes/lines are as follows:

"This is my do-whatever-I-like-and-get-away-with-it badge."
"Are you masturbating?"
"The kind of classified that can put me into prison classified"
"I've got a weakness for hot guys with tight abs and big arms."
There is this once scene where Micaela is talking to Sam and SHE LICKS HER LIP....like it so freaking obvious.....
The constant mis-pronunciation of their last name Witwicky
Another scene where the "hot geek" girl tells the "only guy in the whole world that can crack the code" to use a computer and hook it up to the Morse code machine and she is holding a MONITOR.
The come sit in my lap cause I am the only one with the seat belt line.....

I could go on and on...and I just might come back and ad some more....So basically, it was such an annoying movie, I totally wasted FREE movie passes on it and $3.75 for my diet coke. I wasted my evening....should have walked out but didn't.....

The Home of the Brave

http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/bless-the-beasts-and-children.htm
I just really appreciate the honesty and true reporting that is happening on the website above. We don't really hear of the atrocities that are going on in Iraq except if they are done by the hands of the US military. Many of our men and women are serving our country in a way that we never would. Yet all we do is talk bad about them and since its not their fault that they are over there we shouldn't be taking our anger out on them. How sad...we just recently said good bye to a friend of ours that is going on his first tour of duty to Iraq. He is so young, but he is so brave and is PROUD to serve our country. When we asked him what he was going to go do, he said that he was going to help rebuild and help the citizens. He said that the citizens help them out too, and then he said that the media over here never shows all of that. It's true.

al Quaeda is killing innocent people and all we can talk about doing is leaving the Iraq.....we the people of America don't here accurate stories. I am going to make an effort to become more informed and learn the TRUTH about what is happening in Iraq and not rely on the American media to tell me whats going on.
I love my country. I am proud to be an American. I believe that America is the greatest country in the world. I believe that ANY fight for freedom is worth the fight.

Fosters

Ok, have you EVER watched Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends? Check some clips out on my fLAVor section to the right. Seriously it is so funny. I remember when Carlos and Celeste first started watching it. I think that I was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and they were in our room laying on the bed trying to find something to watch. All of a sudden I hear them laughing and laughing and laughing....so I go in there ...what is so funny? This cartoon. I look at it and I am like, uuhhhh, I am not sure about this one. Mostly cause I am super picky about what I watch and I certainly don't like anything with a lot of hocus pocus in it....and it seemed like it did (it doesn't) so I walked out with my nose in the air thinking, weirdos. Some time later I sat down with Celeste and we watched it together. Then I got it. Oh yeah, its funny. Not funny. Like your ribs hurt funny. So that was our thing for a while....watching Fosters. Even after she left, Carlos and I still watched it. So catch a view clips and let me know what you think.

Woooowwww....this is a good blog

http://newsbloggers.aol.com/2007/07/13/its-a-girl-im-having-an-abortion/

It's A Girl? I'm Having An Abortion

Posted Jul 13th 2007 10:58AM by Dinesh D'SouzaFiled under: Gay and Lesbian, Abortion, Cultural Left
The effort by Western groups like Planned Parenthood International to promote legalization of abortion throughout the world has produced a strange side effect: the mass-scale killing of female fetuses. Several years ago the New York Review of Books published an article on the tens of millions of women "missing" around the world because they were killed off before being born.
In India, the practice of female feticide has eliminated approximately 10 million women. The country has a preponderance of men over women--1000 women for every 927 men. Recognizing the growing problem, the government is now taking steps to monitor abortions based on sex selection. Health minister Renuka Chowdhury says she wants to make sure there are "valid and acceptable reasons" for abortion. Ah, yes, but the moment you admit that, you abandon the logic of abortion-on-demand, which is that abortions should be entirely the decision of the person having them.
In the West, a new issue looms on the horizon. If homosexuality has a genetic component, technology is making it more likely that pregnant women will be able to tell whether their unborn child is going to be gay or not. Once this happens, it's quite possible that we will see lots of people opting to abort homosexual fetuses. Anti-gay prejudice need not be the reason; many parents may simply not want a son or daughter to go through the difficulties of being gay in a largely heterosexual society. We can expect to hear things like, "I'm doing this for its own sake."
Today the safest place for unborn girls in India, China, and many other countries is in the womb of religious women and women who oppose abortion. Similarly the cultural left may soon discover that the safest place for gay fetuses in America and Europe are the wombs of evangelical Christians and prolife women.

Ok, WOW! I have never read this guy's blog before and I don't know how to link it other than what I did, copying the link and pasting it, but what a thought....and what a new way to protest abortion...good argument too. I was thinking as I read it that its so true about the huge impact our decisions make that we don't think about the future, but we just think about the NOW and how do I feel NOW. I think that is what we all do most of the time anyway, think selfish thoughts and how I feel about my choice for the moment. Here China only wants couples to have two kids. Obviously its better to have only boys because they can make money and support you later on....so everyone kills the baby girls and not necessarily in utero...and so 20 years later there aren't any girls to marry all those boys...and so what happens? Unrest in the villages and all the men in the cities who can afford it LEAVE. Sounds like a choice that is going to bite that country in the butt. As for America and killing homosexual fetus'....mmmm, I can see that being a problem...sooo, now we care though, didn't care back in the day, but now that it is a problem we want to change our policy and views.....

She rambles....

I have been really terrible while Carlos is gone...I don't go to sleep till like....laaate at night and then I have to get up really early in the mornings for work....I go through the day with one of those headaches from lack of sleep and too much caffeine...know what I mean? But its been good cause I have spent a lot of time just being by myself and doing a lot of things around the house that needed to be done. Last night though, I spent 5 hours on youtube...I watched all of these videos from the pastors and teachers. They are so awesome. I am hoping that Carlos can help me just rip the audio so that I can put them on CD to listen to....but yeah...I am waiting on Carlos to come home and I am here at work. Yesterday I worked out in my garden. Life is good. I love Jesus.

My Band Aid Ministry

Well, I was finally getting off to sleep when at almost midnight the doorbell rang. I know, I know, you have absolutely NO idea who it is and you want me to tell you. I will. It was Ashley. Can you guess what she needed? Yes. You are SOOO good at this. She needed a band aid. She was crying and her cat scratched her and she knew to come to my house for a band aid. I didn't really think that much about it till today. I heard her crying out side, so I looked out my window. She was standing in her driveway and she kept looking at my house to see if I was outside. I thought..wow...she is hurt and she just wants someone to care and the way that I show her that I care is giving her band aids. So in a minute she was over at my house telling me about her toe and then 20 min later she was back because she needed another one...but we have graduated to the next step besides just a band aid. Now its a band aid and a HUG. She waits for that now too...she looks at me and waits. So I give her a hug and I tell her to be careful...that just goes back to my cup of cold water ideas...I really think that I have a ministry right now...its passing out band aids.....Its even to the point where I keep a little band aid box and medicine OUT all the time cause I need it so frequently....

Poo on being alone and women's rights!

I absolutely hate the fact that Carlos is gone. I have 4 more days alone. Yesterday right after he left I went to our old house and mixed paint for him. He now has nine 5 gallon buckets of paint. It only took one can of exploding pink paint and 2.5 hours. Then I went home and ate. I slept for 2 hours, got up drank an energy drink and mowed the lawn. It was like 200 degrees outside and the lawn mower I used was scary. Now I need a weed eater, but I think that will wait. As I was mowing, I asked myself. Really. Who in their RIGHT mind WANTS to mow the lawn? As a female, if a guy will do it for you, WHY would you want to do it? To prove a point? Heck no. You gotta be crazy...knowing that I can do it is about as close to being a femenist and I am going to get. I certainly can handle being inside making dinner while Carlos mows the lawn than the other way around. My hands are bruised today, my nail polish is ALL jacked up, I am sore and my shoes have stickers all in them....no...I think God made me to be married and a girly girl...I will get my physical activity from working out in an air conditioned gym and just stay curvy...wearing make up, getting my hair done...and as for getting "dirty" I think my garden is about all the dirt and OUTSIDENESS that I want. Somebody buy me the ROBO lawn mower!!!!

Happy Fourth of July

Well this is the second time that I have written this post and it just kind of goes along with my day. Not a bad day at all just one of those where you feel like you are playing catch up the whole time and you just don't quite get it. I really think that it is all due to the fact that Carlos is not here with me. I didn't get to celebrate with him today...he is at a camp and from what I understand from him his day was very similiar to mine...new rule for us...never be apart. It just makes life easier. There are now only 8 minutes left in the Fourth of July. I need to go to bed.

1:12Am

So the other night Carlos was painting and he and I listened to this interview between some radio guy and Tonex. I remember the first time I heard Tonex and I was like dang, this guy is different and I really liked him....all of a sudden he comes out with this song called the Naked Truth....its some really tough stuff to hear...cause this man is hurting and everyone just kinda tried to kick stuff under the table, PLUS he is getting a lot of negative feed-back. So I wanted to post up some of his videos, his interviews and that song Naked Truth.

I think it's all a really big deal....just traditional church culture sucks and the "church" failed him....I just hate that we kick our own when they are down and we act so typical that the world learns to hate us a little more. This is all kinda in line with stuff I know that Carlos is thinking about right now and that Kevin is talking about....the church being the church....you know its really old already that we gotta fake it all the dang time in church...the one place where we should be able to go and let someone know what our struggles are is the LAST place we will just be open about anything...so put on that happy church faces guys....but I think that stuff is starting to happen and we gotta get over ourselves and over all of this life that says in front of a "good person" I will act this way, but when I get home, Ima get on the net and enjoy some porn...I am going to give the communion message but when I get home, I am gonna drink the rest of the wine....lie, cheat, steal, gossip....its not about being perfect by any means....buts about being real....throwing off everythign that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles....because we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses doesn't mean that when they are looking that we run....we just always keep running the race....and if this doesn't make sense thats fine cause its 1:27AM. But you know what? We gotta start being the people that God called us to be....

Verna's Virtual Bridal Shower

So for the past week or so, during my free time when I would normally be on here blogging, Carlos and I have been working on a website for my friend. Let me give you some background info.

My friend Verna is from South Africa and she just got here about a month ago. She asked me to be her Matron of Honor and she is getting married on Aug 4th. Well, what does a Matron of Honor do? She throws the Bride a shower....little problem, she lives in Nashville and I am here in Texas...money is tite and I won't be going to see her untill the 1st of August....did I mention that we have never met in person? We talk on the phone and email.....so I was really sad cause I felt like I wasn't doing a good job.

God is good and He gave Carlos a GREAT idea. He said we should throw her a VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER!! I got on the net and searched and the only think that I could find that was like what we were talking about was this site http://www.stonypoint.net/shower/main.html. So Carlos and I took that wonderful idea and ran with it....well we sat on the couch all day long and typed and uploaded and searched and learned how to work together.
So you should check out the Virtual Bridal Shower that Carlos and I designed:

Cell Phone Pics by Ashley

So this is what it looks like on MOST days when we are hanging out with the kids. We all just chill on the front porch...yesterday, Ashley and I had about a half a bag of peanuts...you know the kind that are in the shells...we just sat there and cracked them and ate the nuts and threw the shells in the yard. Adrian came over this morning and told us that we made a huge mess....and we really did. Today I am going to have a watermelon day with them....I will be sure and take lots of pictures.

What about a Band aid??

"......if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."

What about a band aid? Miss Ashley has been coming over to my house every day more than once a day. On Tuesday she cut her toe right on the tip. Ashley runs around with out shoes most of the time and it kept getting hit. Yesterday I put band aids on it twice....My doorbell rang at 11:56PM. I was already asleep. We answer the door and Ashley is standing there in her pajamas crying her heart out. Did I mention she just turned 5 years old? Do you know what happened? Her toe got skinned again. Her mama wasn't at home and no one was taking care of her. She was freaked out....it was a HUGE deal to her...Where did she come? To my house...for "a cup of cold water"....a hug...to be held...to be soothed...to be given a band aid....and to be made to feel like she was safe...and all of those needs were met.

I recognize that its no small thing to be the one that they come to...I don't think that they would come to see just anybody...they are so smart and they watch every little thing that you do and they catch every inconsistency...I am thankful that I have the opportunity to be the one to love them....to give them drink from the water hose, a band aid, attention and praise....here are a few more little happenings....

Jesse is 10 and he told me yesterday that I was his best friend.

Adrian's mom came home and made him give her the rest of his money so that she could go by dish soap.

Adrian skateboarded on the roof of his house yesterday...with a broken arm.....He is 10 years old and has been in the behavior unit since Kindergarten....he doesn't even know why he is there.....

This morning at 7:45 AM my doorbell rang again. It was Ashely...she literally woke up and walked straight over to my house. She was holding her new kitten and she told me that it was crying. So we set out on my front porch while I held the cat and just talked.....

"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me."

Are YOU my mother??

After Ashley came over 3 times, I wasn't sure what she could possibly need. After all, she had gotten a band aid, brought me her sprinkler, and something else when she rang the door bell yet again. I opened the door and she had a horrified look on her face. I was like, whats wrong??? She told me that the baby bird was dead. (WHAT baby bird is she talking about???) I told her that I was sooo sorry. Then I asked her what we should do. She didn't know, so I said I would give her a box. Then she told me it was still alive. (hmmm...) Ok, have a box anyway and bring it to me. Well, it wasn't dead, and she didn't want it, so, who best to take it? I, the I Don't Like Animals girl...(I fed their dogs yesterday). So I bring it in, Google how to take care of it, and have now fed it four times and its pooped. Yes. I am going to name him Herman. And I am giving him up for adoption if he survives the night. So here are some pics depicting life as Herman's mommy. I feed him a mixture of dog food, milk, water, cracker and boiled egg. It stinks. But he likes it and I guess in the end that is what counts. Oh yeah, and he makes the cutest little peeps when you are feeding him....gotta go, I think I hear him.
