Dear Alexis

Dear Alexis,
I visited your home state girl! California!! While I was there I stayed in a hotel where they had a sleep number bed. You gave good advice all those years ago when you told us that's the kind of bed we needed to sleep better in. So I wanted you to know that my sleep number is 40. I also got to go to Disneyland. You would have loved it there. Maybe I can take you there someday when you are bigger. We will stay in that same hotel and find out what YOUR sleep number is!! I love you!

Palm Trees

So it started from the plane...I could see these little pom-pom ball trees sticking up taller than all the other trees and houses. I began thinking then that Palm Trees were not so awesome - more Dr. Seuss and kinda retarded. After we landed and started driving and I saw them randomly popping up I began to try and understand the point of a palm tree - or at least the pom-pom palm trees. Here in Texas we line our roads with large trees to shade our yards, houses and streets....I couldn't see much shade going on with the palm trees. It was really funny to see a beautiful house with all these gorgeous plants and different kinds of foliage in front of it - and a really tall palm tree towering over the yard so when you look at the house you just see this tree trunk. lol!!! You had to look up to see the tree! Anyway, there are other types of palm trees that are much shorter and fuller that look beautiful - but these other ones - the pom pom's (along with the purple and orange trees) gives California a Dr Seuss feel like no other!!

Sweatin' Here In LA

The plants here are beautiful. I love the purple trees. Carlos thinks they smell awesome and picks up a hand-full of blossoms from the ground and sniffs them - I think they stink and refuse to inhale.
We were driving around getting supplies and there was a man in the parking lot selling big bags of cherries for $5 so we bought some. Mmmm - good!
Carlos had been painting and so I have been wandering around - I go back and check on him now and again so I can take a picture or two or three.

The palm trees here are crazy - I think that I will leave that for another post. Oh yeah, and I am sweatin here in la....its that sticky hot that I am not used to in good ole' west texas!!

I might die from lack of sleep

soooo....I can barely think right now. Last night I went to bed at 2am and got up at 5:30am. It is 12:30Am right now and I am blogging....I am crazy....anyway, Carlos and I just got done walking the streets of LA. We went shopping cause we didn't have anything else to do, but I am sooo tired right now....this whole blog will probably not make sense. Carlos gets more rest than I do when we travel because he sleeps on the planes....I can't sleep on the planes very well. (I was over the wing again) I am thinking about taking some binoculars next time I go cause my face is smashed up against the window all the time looking out onto the land...I saw a car wreck today as we were coming into LA....the turbulence on that flight was crazy....it is not a good sign when it feels like you are on a roller coaster.....or that the entire plane lost power before take off and they had to pull back up and power it up again....I was ready to get off but the captain called it an anomaly and explained it to us so I stayed. I can't find a microwave anywhere and am dying for some tea....some how hot tap water doesn't cut it.

I just heard the strangest noise.....something keeps calling my name and its not Carlos....there it goes again!!!

Ahhhh....chai tea

I love tazo organic chai tea...in fact, I am hooked. Of all the tea in this photo its the best...the way to drink it is like this:

Heat your cup of water up in the microwave for 1:20.

Put your tea bag in the tea

Pour in 2 packets of Splenda

Then pour a nice bit of heavy whipping cream into the tea

Let it sit 30 seconds....close your eyes, and try not to burn your tongue

On a side note, the Passion tea is freaky....its bright red and very fruity....and there is some kind of chemical reaction between it and then heavy whipping cream because it immediately curdled when I poured some in...but yeah....
