Missing Screws

Every time I fly, somehow I end up over the wing. So I take on the responsibility of checking to make sure that all the screws are in the wing and that nothing is loose or broken. Although I don't think to check that till we are air born, and I am not sure what I would do if I ever saw a loose screw and we were 20,000 ft in the air....it's still I feel an important job. Almost like being seated in the exit row.

Free Wifi

I hate paying for internet connections. Although I totally understand - sometimes - why they charge, but dang. I am in Nashville right now in a McDonalds. I payed 2.95 for a 2 hour block of time to use the internet....I also bought breakfast, but I guess that doesn't count. I DID eat a really good chicken breakfast sandwich here. Whataburger breakfast is the best....but when you are starving, you take what you can get and hope that the carbs don't stick. I got up at 7am to take my friend to work today. She switched her hours so that she could get off earlier. So I took her to work....now I have till 5pm till she gets off...hopefully I can find things to do here!! Anyway, my battery is getting low - lol!!! If its not one thing its another, right? I have a feeling that I will be in this McDonalds again tomorrow, so see you soon. I will upload some pics of what all is happening...gonna go get another sandwich and THEN I am gonna find a YMCA!!!!!

Strawberry Jammin'

Alexis says that the Strawberry Shortcake song "Jammin" is HER song. If she hears you singing it she says that it's HER song not yours and to stop singing it. Her friend Ashley across the street let her play with a microphone and so Alexis started bustin' out Her Jammin' Song. And she was totally fine with me videoing her...and let me know when she was done.

Laziness, plain and simple

I really believe that we are just getting lazy. This is how everyone hunted eggs this year...so what if it was wet and cold outside??? Why did we have to throw the eggs in the middle of the room and tell the kids to pick them up again??? LOL!!! It's so funny! No one hunts for them anymore - Carlos' theory is that when we were young everyone was broke so you really had to hunt for the eggs cause there wasn't that many...I agree with him and I added that there were also the boiled eggs everyone made that took up most of the space in your basket...sigh...the good ole' days!

ABC News: Is America Addicted to Porn

Just got through watching the above on ABC's site. Check it out: FACE OFF I really appreciated the entire debate - there is honor on both sides for the other. Much nicer than the debates that you might see between candidates for the presidential election. Gonna call it a God Factor - because I think that since we are in a LOVE WAR - the Porn Pastor is doing an excellent job of calling sin what it is and loving without judgement those involved. Also offering help rather than just leaving some one out there to struggle. Check out XXX Church and Heart Support. Subscribe to their news letters!!

Salsa Dancing

So the other day Victoria was at my house and we were making dinner and we needed some flour so I call my mother in law and am like do you have any flour? Of course she does, so I told her that either Victoria or I would be over there to get it. I noticed she sounded kinda out of breath but I figured it was because she was outside working....well since Victoria is the one cooking, I drive over there. I knock and she opens the door a crack and said she was naked...I looked at her and said are you serious??? She opened the door and she was in a work out outfit and she just laughed and said no she was practicing her salsa dancing with a salsa dancing work out video...she gives me the flour and then shows me all the steps and stuff....she sent this comic in an email to Carlos and told him that was her practicing her lessons - well then that kid is me trying to get this image of a half naked lady dancing in her living room - my husbands mother.

Freedom Fellowship Mural

Carlos just finished this mural for Freedom Fellowship. It's awesome. He did it for their youth room in the new building that they will be moving into this month. This church was sooo nice to us! They didn't just pay Carlos like he usually gets paid - they asked us to come to their service, presented us to the church and then gave us a check and prayed over us. They talked about how they were sowing into Carlos and believed in what he was doing. Very encouraging.

Dear Mrs. Clinton

a photo by Kansieo

Don't let my vote for you yesterday fool you. Yesterday, pressing the big red "cast ballot" button was very difficult for me. I comfort myself by knowing I will be voting for McCain in the Presidential Election this November. By crossing my party line and voting for you - I helped to ensure that you would be the one facing McCain a strategy that was followed by many in my town. I know that you think that your campaigning here in Tom Green County is what got you elected - it's not. So you might have won this battle Mrs. Clinton, but we will win the war.

Fighting The Child Sex Trade

12 because I rescued the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to assist him.
13 The man who was dying blessed me;
I made the widow's heart sing.
14 I put on righteousness as my clothing;
justice was my robe and my turban.
15 I was eyes to the blind
and feet to the lame.
16 I was a father to the needy;
I took up the case of the stranger.
17 I broke the fangs of the wicked
and snatched the victims from their teeth.
Job 29:12-17

Fake Lashes

So I decided that I wanted to try fake lashes...lol...Carlos asked me what in the world made me want to do this! Cause I wanted to, I don't know. Last night after he got home from painting we were sitting at the table and he was working on his computer and I decided to try them out...I should have KNOWN not to do this at 11 at night and just go to bed. So I open the package and I pull out the glue....I was squeezing too hard on the tube while I was opening it and it squirted ALL over my shirt...thankfully there was enough left for me to use on the lashes....so I am putting the glue on the lashes and I put the first one on. I ask Carlos what he thinks and he says well it looks great, but one of your eyes is kinda messed up...which one I ask and he pointed to the one with the fake lashes....I am like are you kidding me?? That's the one I just put on! The other eye is just my real lashes!!! sigh....I need more practice I think. lol. I should have watched these little clips before I even started messing with that stuff: TIPS.

Barber Shop Drop Out

It's funny, huh? That top pictures doesn't look like it is going to well, but that is when they first started and they are all serious. Carlos has been doing his own fades for a minute and all the guys here are like daaannnggg, you do your own??? Can you give me one?? LOL!! Since Alfonzo is by far the most consistent and persistent in asking, Carlos experimented on him. He and Alfonzo went to Sally's, this beauty supply store. They each bough a pair of clippers. Carlos needed a new pair because his would not turn on, and Alfonzo didn't have a pair. When we got back to the house, Carlos looked at his and realized his was too high tech it didn't have the adjuster thing on there....so they started to use Alfonzo's. It pulled his hairs instead of cutting them and the motor in it got so hot that it was burning Carlos' hand to use it. They ended up duct taping Carlos' old clippers so they would run and finishing up Alfonzo's fade. lol. What did I do? Took pictures, kept them entertained by talking to them and that's about it.

Out....

photo courtesy of http://www.nataliedee.com/ and I like her stuff so you will see more of it in later posts
Well today I am not here - I am out. I don't know when I will be coming back and I didn't want to leave all of you my friends with an empty day so I invited another guest blogger to come and entertain you. Her name is Jami and she has been sick with the flu....you should be fine - I heard she was taking some kind of meds and is no longer contagious.

This past week I got the flu. It was my first time having the flu and I was absolutely miserable. Every part of my body hurt, my legs, arms, ears, throat, my head had so much pressure I thought it would freakin explode! I couldnt do anything not even sleep, and that sucks when you hurt too bad to even go to sleep. I just laid there and cried and whined...then after a few days, just when things got a little better, i could sleep, just never at night,I had to get an infection in my eyes!! It burned and was so irritating and my eyes were always getting matted together... After about 5 days I could sleep normal and I hurt but nowhere NEAR as bad as in the beginning...if I never get the flu again it would be too soon, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. And, as for every year for the rest of my life, I will always get a flu shot!!
Wow. That sucks, huh? Every day you should learn a lesson. What can you learn from Jami? Get the flu shot - use disinfectant cause it can get into your eyes - and stay away from strange dogs.

Guest Blogger

Tonight I went to the Carnival with my friend Melissa....I rode 7 rides and one of them I rode twice...since I am still feeling a bit queeeeezy, I thought that I would let my friend "guest blog" tonight...please be polite.....

Well tonight at the carnival before we got on many rides, I had to be smart and point out to val that a friend of mine said she dont ride the rides cause they move them to much. So the whole time val keeps cracking jokes. She was making me feel more and more queezy all the jokes she would say you hear that "loose bolts" or as we are spinning a ride she nonchalantly points out what if we are unscrewing our selves from this ride. As i am feeling so sick to my stomach she sees something on the ride we are riding and says is that throw up i felt it right away my mouth fills with saliva thats when i knew we had to go ................all in all we had a good time we rode rides had fun and laughed alot.

Let's all give a big thanks to Melissa for doing such a great job as our FIRST EVER guest blogger. We really did have a great time. I had not been to the carival for myself in a long time. What Melissa failed to tell me was that it WAS "Suicide Night" and all the things that I "thought" that I heard might have really been life threatening. Well guys my battery is about to die! Have a great night - go to the Carnival and stay away from strange dogs.

Sushi Part 734

Since I think Sushi is so gross you would think that we would have heard the end of it. BUT I ran across an felllow blogger who has an in depth list of all the correct ways to eat Sushi HERE.

The following are some high lights:

Do not rub your chopsticks together. When not in use they should be placed parallel to yourself on the holder (if there is one) or on the shoyu dish. (What happens if you don't use your chopsticks? Is that rude?)

Don’t put wasabi directly in the shoyu dish. (WHY would you want to eat wasabi anyway since its disgusting and hot?)

It is OK to eat nigiri-zushi (sushi) with your hands. Sashimi is only to be eaten with your chopsticks. (I used my fork and I don't know what Sashimi is but I still used my fork)

Do not pick up a piece of food from another person’s plate with the end of the chopsticks you put in your mouth. When moving food like this use the end you hold, which is considered the polite way. (hmmm, I hope then that you washed your hands before you ate or that end might have more germs)

Eat nigiri sushi in one bite. This is not always easy (or possible) in North America where some sushi-ya make huge pieces, but traditional itamae in Japanese sushi-ya will make the pieces the proper size for this. In North America, try your best and don’t worry if they won’t let you. (yeah, waaay to big...warning: if you cut it with your fork it will all fall apart)

Also, never stick your chopsticks in your rice and leave them sticking up. This resembles incense sticks and again brings to mind the symbolism of the Japanese funeral and prayers to one's ancestors. (since I don't use chopsticks I am safe on this one)

So there you have it - a little info on sushi and how to eat it properly - check out the rest of the page for more info: HERE.

My Kind of Sushi!

I KNEW it existed!! I was whining about how gross sushi was and didn't someone out there make a dessert sushi? While I was wandering around the internet I found it!! HERE This was an april fools day party. It's rice krispy treats with dried mango, dried papaya (sliced), and candy ginger for fish, and wrapped in slices of green fruit rollups and green 'Yogos' candy roll. With wasabi peas and candied ginger on the side. How totally awesome is that? Thank you thank you! That's the only sushi I will eat. I believe she called it "Faux Sushi"!!!

Stories From The Past

Today my grandmother walked into my office and announced that she was lonely so she came to visit me. So we ate lunch together and she started telling me stories about when she lived in an orphanage. I am not sure how old she was when she moved in there....I want to say around 7 or so. Anyway, the things that she got herself into during that time was crazy. She told me that everyone used to grade all the orphans in different areas, and for every zero that you got meant that you got 5 spats. My grandmother managed to get 8 zeros in a week. For talking back. That meant 40 spats. So she was given 20 and left to sit and think and when they came back to give her the other 20, she tried to turn the other way to get the 20 on the other side of the butt, which didn't work cause they knew what she was trying to do and moved her back. I asked her if she felt like Jesus with 40 lashes and she just laughed and said no. She told me another story about a classmate of hers that used to tattle on all the other kids. This little girl would tell on every little thing and often didn't tell the truth. My grandmother and her friend got so mad that they managed to get this girl to come down to this old shed and they tied her hands above the rafters. She said the little girls feet were still on the ground but they had her hands tied. Then they went and caught a turkey and tied it to the rafters across from the little girl and left her there. My grandmother ended the story telling me that the little girl never told on them again. I think that my grandmother must have spent most of her time getting spankings and getting in some kind of trouble. She talked about sticking her tongue out at the matron and getting caught. Her punishment was a whipping on the back of the legs...she told me that it would draw blood and then if you squatted down to play marbles with the other kids and started to sweat it would sting - so a constant reminder of what you did. Quite a life lived I would say -and maybe not all the punishment was undeserved.

Blah blah blah

Don't have much to say...been a great week. Seriously. Yesterday the belt on the washer broke. I found out cause I walked into the laundry room and it stunk! Thankfully I was on my next to the last load - so we all have clean undies....the front porch light doesn't work either but thats not a big deal. We got out car worked on and that is AWESOME. I am fighting this weird scratchy throat and I had to watch four little kids tonight - only one of them was family so I didn't have fun. My sweet hubby bought me feather pillows and a bed spread for Valentines Day....we drove to Coleman to pick up Martika and then took her home today. Soooo....I am tired, but GREAT week. Right now my spacebar on my laptopwon't space andthatIs reallybeginning tobe irritating....I think that I shouldgo to bed cause this postis beginning notto make much sense.

A Freak of Nature....

I REALIZE this is not a good picture....but it was the best I could do under the circumstances. I have been avoiding my neighbors all winter long. Not really - its just too cold and it gets dark too early for the kids to be coming over. Since spring is on the way I happened to be outside with the kids and snapped this picture of their new dog Diamond. This dog is a Pit Bull. Do you know what the definition of a Pit Bull is? I have a dictionary widgit on my google home page....let me tell you: n. A strong muscular terrier of an American breed with powerful jaws, a broad skull, and short hair, originally developed for dogfighting. Also called pit bull, pit bull terrier, Staffordshire terrier. In other words people - NOT the kind of dog you want roaming the streets OR living across the street from you. I came home today from the store and was unlocking the front door when I felt a sinister presence behind me, I slowly turned and looked right into Diamond's eyes. Do you know one time she ran into my house...anyway, I yelled at Adrian to call the dog. Can you imagine if it got mad?? eeeee...bite the back of your leg and then what? You would bleed. And that would SUCK. I hate dogs. I am not gonna lie. And I really HATE freaks of nature like PIT BULLS.

And The Price Keeps Going Up...

I bet you thought that I was talking about gasoline....but I'm not. I am talking about the POSTAGE STAMP. It's currently at .41 but in May will go up to .42. I guess its not a LOT of money - but it IS insulting...I would think that the fact that people pay their bills online would be evened out by the fact that more people are SHOPPING online. Getting a package mailed to you costs way more than a letter but evidently my theory is not the case because they keep raising the price. I will not complain if the raise it to .50 a stamp if they would get their stuff together....get mail to the people I send it to on time, hire more employees so that I don't have to wait ALLLLL day in line to mail something....I don't know about you, but somehow I get the feeling they are just gonna keep raising the price and our service won't get better. The only bill I do NOT pay over the internet is the water bill and that is only because they don't have that service available. In fact, last month I took my payment TO the water company....I may just keep doing that...you know in protest of the whole thing.....here is a link of the article I read that informed of the impending doom STAMP.

Pull Your Pants Up

You are gonna laugh when you watch the following clips from youtube. Basically this guy wrote a song about pulling your pants up - telling all these kids to quit wearing their pants all saggy. In Dallas, they even attempted to put it into legislation and FINE people who wear their pants like that. They spoke about how a big store isn't gonna come in to Dallas because people wear sagging pants...lol...yeah right..money is money whether you pull it out of your skinny jeans or saggy jeans, it all spends the same. Wow. And it has soo much attention paid to this because people don't like the way sagging jeans look - that is a personal oppinion, not something that you should legislate. Can you believe that the government was gonna TELL someone how to DRESS????? Pull your pants up! Ha! Pull 'em down ya'll!! If you are gonna spend your time fighting a style of dress I don't even wanna waste my time with you - how about spending all that time and money and get some real stuff done in Dallas - If you click on the link below the videos you will see the web page on it....ahhhhh, I am tired. I better stop before I get ugly. In a nutshell - the government as NO right to tell me what to wear or how to wear it. Pull em' down!

Mochi Ice Cream

Last night, Carlos and I met my brother and his friend at a sushi bar. I got a bowl of stir fried veggies that were soooo good. Of course everyone else got sushi and made me taste it and I still hate it. (thank you Carrie for the suggestions) BUT we got some ice cream after the meal called Mochi Ice Cream. We chose the green tea flavor that at first had this weird taste to it, but after a bit you got used to it and it was delicious. Carlos described it as a gummy bear with ice cream inside. Pretty accurate description. If you ever get a chance to try Mochi be sure to let me know what you think!! I understand that Mochi is actually the outside shell, that is made from a rice starch and the center is filled with anything from a pastry filling to pieces of fruit or ICE CREAM!!

The Cut

Last night I drove my route, picking up kids to take them to The Refuge...I feel like I can't explain to you what it's like to drive this 15 passenger van filled with kids....and then to share with you the things that they say, it almost sounds stupid to repeat it. Mostly because it's incredibly cliche' and if you watched it on TV, you would groan at such bad jokes....but when it's seriously coming out of a kids mouth it's AWESOME! So here goes....Cody is once again a part of this little story. He gets into the van and says to me, "I got cut from the baseball team today." I said, "CODY! I am sooo sorry. What happened? WHY???" He says, "There are people who are better than me, but it's ok cause I am the manager and I can still go on trips and get a athletic period." I still feel soo sorry for him so I say again, "I am so sorry that you got cut. That just sucks." Dallas turns around and looks him up and down and says, "Where did you get cut at?" AHHHH!!!! I died laughing. Cody gives her this absolutley WITHERING glare and said, "CUT from the TEAM."

Taking Cody home at night is everyones favorite ride. Cody lives down a loooong dirt rode that has HUGE potholes and they are one right after the other. So we drive to Cody's house and drop him off, and then the fun begins....all the boys get on top of the seats. They are actually laying on the back of the seats holding on tight and I drive as "fast" as I can (try 10mph) through the potholes and they see who can stay on....these are like 13-14-15 year old boys doing this....it's always something new or weird happening...keeps me entertained!

The Skinny

So I am headed to the gym to work out when it hits me: TODAY is a holiday....that means that the gym will be packed with teenagers with raging hormones....like 14 and 15 year olds with raging hormones. The gym is almost like going to the beach and no matter what the season is there are always little shorts all over the place..so I am like....just go and work out - it can't be that bad....oh my - have you ever been to the gym when kids are in there? Do you know how they "work out"?? First they all come inside in groups of 3 -5. They ALL walk to a machine and stand around it and they ALL use it. OR they SIT on the machines and watch every one OR they get on the stair stepper for 5 min then they leave and go to the bathroom and come back and use the ab machine FOREVER and then walk around and talk to each other in little groups in FRONT of the machine that you really really want to be on...there is this hum in the air and its NOT the treadmill.....it the hormones.....So here I am, an adult, married woman who just wants to get her regular work out done at a time when there are usually only 2 old people in the whole gym. To make matters worse there really was an older woman on the stair stepper next to me SINGING to her mp3 player...can you guess how loud that was??? From there my day just went down hill....My mp3 player died, I had no water because I forgot it and the gym was humming.....so I spent 20 min and then ran for my life. My new philosophy??? Skinny 13 year olds shouldn't even be allowed in the doors......

Myspace moods....

I am just totally freaked out right now. I was checking my myspace and I saw this little girls profile...well she used to be little I think that she is 18 now, but anyway she just had a baby and I was looking at the pictures....she just updated her profile and it says her mood is: horny.

So like...what do you do with that? Call her man and say - your wife is horny man better get home quick....and then there are all the other weird moods like...virginal??? Understimulated? Overstimulated...sweaty...hot...flirty...I mean...EWWWWWWW. I don't even WANT TO KNOW THIS STUFF!!!! Especially not about little kids that I used to see all the time.

Wow.

That stuff is so weird anyway...like you are supposed to be able to look at someones profile and instead of being like, hey how are you, just look at their mood and see...they are feeling JEDI. Oooo, or how about PIRATE....are you feeling catalyzed today? What the heck is that anyway? I was looking through to see if the Seven Dwarves were in there...sneezy, grumpy....lol

My mood after writing this blog??? ELECTRIC....zap zap!

Conversation

Last night I was running my regular route, picking up kids for our Wednesday night event. My list was short, only 2 kids. Cheyenne who is in the 7th grade and Cody who is in the 9th grade. Conversation was crazy...you never know what you are gonna talk about or hear when you are in the van. My most exciting bit of convo went like this:

Cody: "I got an i-phone for christmas"

Cheyenne: "Oh my gosh! I didn't know those things were real!!! I thought that they were only on Hannah Montanna!!!"

I didn't even flinch. I let that just go right on by.

The trip home I had way more kids. Evidently ALL the parents were at work and church because they all kept telling me that no one was at their house.....yeah right.

THEN a conversation starts up between a guy and this girl about how they can't remember their phone numbers....like oh my gosh! I just can't ever remember it! I like, totally have to put it in my phone or I forget it! hehehe! Again, I don't say anything and just roll my eyes.

I wonder if it can get better than this?

My Fake Baby

So I was looking through different news headlines and saw one several days ago about how "fake babies" are becoming more and more popular in England and the US. I was thinking what the heck is a fake baby and so I watched this 5 part series called My Fake Baby on youtube. They won't let you put it on your blog, so if you want to watch it, you will have to go to youtube.com to search for it. Anyway - it's totally possible to see how there could come a point in our lifetimes when technology and artistry meet to the point that someone really could have a fake baby and you wouldn't even know it.

http://www.peachesandcreamnursery.com/adoptedbabys1.htm is a site that features EXTREMELY life like dolls. These dolls can have breathing mechanisims you can put in them as well as squirming and crying mechanisims. It was really amazing. I think that the problem comes when you fill the empytiness or hurts that you have with a THING be it alive or not - God is the only one who can fill us up. Several of the ladies on the video say they know their dolls are dolls but you get the feeling now and then that's not the case....that it just goes too far.

After watching the series my sweet husband made me my own fake baby that I named Leroy and he is pictured below. I don't feed him or anything - he is on the Fridge so I guess if he gets hungry he can get down and get his own food.

Beauty School Drop Out

Victoria came over for me to color her hair. It was my first time to color someone else's hair and I had just spent over an hour with her mom at a salon while she got HER hair done and I studied closely....so for my first time I did an ok job....Alexis was totally into it as well....she did her hair and her babies hair....ummm, so we turned my kitchen into a ghetto salon and got the job done...and like I always say...."Ghetto is as ghetto does!"

Twas The Month After Christmas

Twas The Month After Christmas
Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Hello 2008! You are MY Year!!!

I feel like this year is gonna be BIG! That it's gonna include alot of changes - but that God's gonna take us to new places and use us to advance His Kingdom. Looking forward to all that He has to offer us!! I am starting off the New Year 2008 by accepting in Faith what the Word of God says to us:

18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
Deut 8:18

11 But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. 12 It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.
13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul- 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied
.
Deut 11:11-15
